This unique pendant has been lovingly created – curls and swirls of silver plated copper wire in an antique bronze finish surround a unique centre bead. Hand painted focal bead with accent beads.

Starting with a glass bead which has been hand-painted so that each one is unique. This center bead has been painted in shades of pale purple, lilac with hints of silver, green and a fleck of gold, patterned like a gossamer wing. The colours and pattern seem to move as the pendant moves.

This large focal bead has been hand stitched with the wire and edged with accenting shiny dark haematite beads and a contrasting clear crystal bead.

Technique

The large focal bead has been stitched into the handmade wire frame, using an ancient technique known as ‘couching’. This technique was used to stitch pearls and other gems into fancy gowns using gold thread. In this piece of jewellery, I have used a variation on this technique with wire. The wire is a copper core wire, which is silver plated and then has an antique bronze colour coating applied. Nickel and lead free.

This unique piece of jewellery is approx 5cm (2 inches) long and approx 3cm (1.5 inches) wide. It is supplied on a contrasting antique copper colour chain approx 73cm (28.5 inches) long.  Easy to pop on over the head, but it has a clasp so that you can change the chain, if you want.
